How to Set Default Settings for a Project in Primavera Project Planner P6 R8.1? We can set some default settings in P6. So when we will create new project, these default settings will be applied.

A Scheduler is entering (or importing) 2000 activities for which he has to “5-Working Days per week”. If the default value for calendar is set previously to “ 7-Working Days Per Week” then the Scheduler has to change the calendar for all the 2000 activities. Therefore, to avoid such overwork, he (the Scheduler) can set the default value of calendar to “ 5-Working Days per Week” and then enter (or import) the activities.

The default settings for a project can be entered in the Default Tab of the Project Details. Click on Projects Icon in the Directory tool bar or click on Enterprise >Projects. Let us understand this by a simple example; Consider we have two activities having Activity IDs “ABC0010” and “ABC0050”. Let us consider that the above said check box is checked and increment is 10. Then if you select “ABC0010” and you add new activity, the Activity ID of the new Activity will be “ABC0020”. Similarly if “ABC0050” is selected and a new activity is added, the new activity will be having Activity ID “ABC0060”.
