I then decompile one in apk manager 4.8. I don't know why but I always have problems with apk manager 4.9. I make the changes that I need and then I recompile ( also to be on the safe side I usually set my java heap size to 256. I only do this on a couple apks though).

Usually I'll switch the signatures and give it a test run. But if that doesn't work I switch the xml files with the ones from the orignal apk.
