I do not believe the USCG doc has the correct number, from what I can read on the transom, which is partially illegible. I believe that the builders MIC is the MRY, then 5 numbers for the serial number, next a letter(M) then the year, looks like 81, and then I believe an alpha letter, which signifies the month built, ie, A, Jan, B Feb, etc.

This number has MRY and only 4 numbers before the M and then the 81, but actually ends in 8114? It was also a charter boat in the US Virgin Islands with a state reg number back in 2001. Anyone know how to email them? Also is the first paragraph correct as far as your knowledge? Don't want to have the boat bought and find out the number was tampered with on purpose sometime on or before 2001, when it was first documented, for my prospective buyer.
